On the "virgin" controversy in 7:14, cf. Genesis 24:43 and Proverbs 30:19, in which the Hebrew word clearly refers to a virgin (translated "maiden").
Chapter 45
God will use Cyrus to send back Jews to Judah and rebuild Jerusalem: 45:1-25 "He will build my city and will let my exiles go free" (45:13). Future Empire: 45:22-23 "Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God and there is no other. I have sworn by Myself ... that to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance" (45:22-23).
