Chapter 38

God heals Hezekiah and lets him live another 15 years; and reminds him that He will defend Jerusalem against Assyria.

Chapter 37

 Isaiah encourages Hezekiah that Assyria will not destroy Jerusalem. "The surviving remnant of the house of Judah shall again take root downward and bear fruit upward. For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant., and out of Mount Zion survivors. The zeal of the LORD of hosts shall perform this" (37:31-32).

Chapter 36

The king of Assyria lays siege to Jerusalem and tells the people not to expect any deliverance either from Egypt or the LORD. They should just surrender and let themselves be deported to someplace else--to a "land like your own land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards" (36:17).

Chapter 35

Future Restoration/Kingdom of God (Judah): 35:1-10 The focus is on a desert becoming fertile--that is what the restoration will be like.  Also, there will be no harm--no lion, no vicious beast (35:9) --so there will be joy and gladness rather than sorrow and sighing (35:10-11). 

Chapter 34

Future Judgment (on Nations): 34:1-17 WWI? "Its nobles--there is no one there whom they may proclaim king--and all its princes shall be nothing" (34:12).
